Yes, you can say crap, or really whatever you want so long as it's not demeaning or bigoted or sexist or . . . (I'm sure none of you would write anything along these lines, so we'll skip the lecture -- it's in the syllabus).
Yes, you may call me Amy; I'm not particularly interested in formal titles. It's my name, so use it. If you are uncomfortable with that, you can call me instructor or professor or whatever's most comfortable for you -- just not "Mrs." Bolaski. I kept my maiden name, so there is no, as it were, "Mrs." Bolaski to be found. My family has often rejected this, and I find I still get mail addressed to "Mrs. Edward Newell". Ahem. That's another, not very literary subject, however.
I've really enjoyed reading thus far -- very enlightening. I'm so glad a lot of you are jumping in full force, and it's so much more fun to work with people when I've got a view of them that goes beyond first and last names and student ID numbers.
