My name is Heidi Thoma, i've never blogged before so I'm hoping I get it and do it right....eventually! Lets see...about me.....i'm happily engaged to a great guy, we've been dating for 5 1/2 years and plan to marry in May 2010. I have a 9 year old son, he is spontaneous, caring and fun little guy and I love watching him grow before my eyes. I work with kids every day and thankfully get to work where my son has after school care. I love it because I know who his friends are and I'm enjoying my son's youth to the max!! I'm a bit of a free bird, I like being outdoors and running....well, jogging, in road races that benefit children. Its something i'm very passionate about. As you can see from the pic of my son and I in the gold and overalls, that race had a costume contest. Too bad we did not win that one.
I'm a United States Navy veteran, I served for 5 years active and 3 in the reserves, working as a diesel mechanic. Not the most popular job for a lady but I loved the challenges it presented. I've always dreamed of being a nurse and finally accomplished it, I recently graduated with my Liscensed Vocational Nursing certificate. My goal is to work while completing my Bachelor's in Nursing so that I can get myself into those highly specialized areas that a bachelor's degree commands. I'm hoping to continue working with children, I like that when you are working as a nurse with kids, your not just treating the sick child, you are treating the family. Having gone through some family medical crisis, the compassionate nurses were life savers and I hope to be fortunate enough to be that calm in the storm for a family someday!
School sometimes feels horribly overwhelming and in all honesty I can't wait to be done, at least for a little while. At the end of this spring, FINALLY, I will have my bachelors requirements completed so that when I get into a nursing program, i'm taking only nursing classes, allowing me to focus my time and study efforts appropriately! Again, i'm looking forward to this class, I wish all classes were online as I enjoy the flexibility they provide!
Your son is so cute :)
ReplyDeleteMy mommy is a nurse and she's the most awesome person I know. You have to be very very strong to do that job so I commend you!
